Here’s a list of updates and bug fixes to the Trakt website in 2023. If you’d like to support Trakt, please consider signing up for VIP.

October 30, 2023

VIP UPDATES (more info)

Added episode type to the advanced filtering when viewing data containing episodes such as calendars and episode searches.
Calendar notification emails adjusted to display more posters per row.

New finales email notifications added for calendar and watch now notification emails.
List CSV files include additional fields like country, language, IMDB ratings, and Rotten Tomatoes ratings.

UPDATES

Sticky sidebars updating throughout the website to use CSS instead of JavaScript. The results are much smoother and should remove a lot of the weird scrolling bugs we used to see.
New calendars added for My Finales and All Finales.
Dashboard upcoming schedule can be set to display your finales.

Premieres calendars and dashboard upcoming schedule adjusted to include series premieres, season premieres, and mid season premieres.
Welcome wizard only displays streaming services with links, this helps hide some of the sports services that we don’t actually index.
Summary pages have a dedicated Add to list secondary button. If you have the main action set to Add to watchlist, you can click this new button or long press (this already worked).

Added too short as a comment reporting reason.
Character count added to add notes popup.
Click on a date to switch it to a relative format. Click on a runtime to see it in minutes (we already had this).

BUGS

Fixed some calendar display issues with it not picking the correct first date and page title.

Lists can be sorted by lots of different ratings from Trakt, IMDB, TMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic.

UPDATES

Trakt displays episode tags for series premieres, mid season finales, season finales, and series finales throughout the website. We get this info from TMDB, so any updates over there will sync to Trakt about 24 hours later.

User ratings page has updated colors and labels for all your ratings.

Welcome wizard only displays watch now services with at least 1 streaming item. This helps remove sports and other services that don’t actually have any watch now links on Trakt.

Add notes to your media and activity items! Drop a note on any movie, show, season, episode, or person. Notes can also be added to any item in your watched history, collection, or ratings.

Search added to your comments and notes pages. Click the search icon or press t on your keyboard.

UPDATES

Improved the cookie consent banner so it’s easier to reject all cookies. Some website functionality will be degraded if Functionality cookies are rejected.

Reduced the intrusive website ads to improve the user experience. Ads suck, but they help pay the bills. Ads are hidden throughout the website and official apps for Trakt VIP members.

Twitter rebranded to X 😅 and sharing fixed. X sharing has become a VIP only feature since we have to pay a monthly fee in order to automatically post.

BUGS

Fixed some default states for advanced filters.
Fixed IMDB lists.

VIP UPDATES (more info)

Rotten Tomatoes enhanced with separate Tomatometer (critics) and Audience Scores. If enabled in your settings, movie and show summary pages will include the scores (if we have the data). Advanced filtering allow filtering by both scores too.

Advanced filtering allows filtering by Studios.

UPDATES

Episodes and time remaining to watch added to tooltips throughout the website. All grid views and summary pages have this info.

User profile has some more design tweaks and much improved performance. The top section goes back to a squared look, last 30 day stats added, recently watched is split to episodes and movies, ratings switched to a bar graph, most watched and comments default to the last 30 days.

When viewing your own user profile, there are customize icons so you easily change defaults for everyone who sees your profile.
Shows display a tagline when available.

Mastodon sharing allows a specific language to be set.
If you display your Mastodon icon on your Trakt profile, we include additional code to make your Trakt profile a verified link on your Mastodon profile.
Progress sorting by release date updated to ignore episodes that air in the future. A new filter added if you want to include those future episodes (only impacts shows you’ve 100% watched).

BUGS

Fixed calendar month name so it’s not 1 month off.
Fixed iCal all day events in Outlook.
Hide comments on a link (private) list so they don’t display on your public user profile.
Auto redirect some show pages if they were using an old slug URL.

Plex scrobbler supports managed user accounts.

UPDATES

The website user profile got a big redesign! Your top 3 favorites are listed, recently watched has more detail, graphs are refreshed, most watched added, and your recent comments are visible too. Check out your profile.

If you only 50 shows and movies to bring with you on a deserted island (with a sweet 4K home theater), what would they be? Our new Favorites feature (formerly personal recommendations) is designed to showcase your all time favorites on your user profile. Read the blog post.

Progress sorting options updated to be more clear and they all support ascending and descending.

VIP UPDATES (more info)

Refresh JustWatch button added to each movie and show page. This queues up the streaming links to refresh in the new few minutes.
You can re-send the Android beta invite email if you need to use a different email address that is linked with Google Play. First, change your email in the settings. Second, click the You’re Invited button on the apps page to resend the email. Third, change your email back if you’d like.
Switched networks to use an internal ID instead of relying on the network name. This allows more precise results on the Year in Review, Advanced Filters, and summary pages. Some networks have the same name in different countries, so that should be displayed more accurately now.

UPDATES

We’re up to 139 countries with watch now streaming links!
Removed swap arrow icons in various places since they were confusing and not actually clickable.
Calendar has improved text to indicate the full month in the main title and the date range when viewing weekly. Also improved the Toggle Sidebar link for VIP members.

BUGS

Fixed Shows & Movies calendar to use the correct start date.
Correctly render lists with link privacy.
Fix collection metadata to allow editing existing metadata values.
Improved actor hover state styling on summary pages.
Fixed movie searching to use the translated titles. There was an issue with some titles being blank from TMDB, so we handle that more effectively now.

Trakt for Android

Trakt for Android is officially released! Many thanks to all the VIP members who beta tested the app and provided helpful feedback throughout!

Refreshed fanart on home page.

BUGS

Fixed movies box office page and other IMDB lists.
Fixed share icon positioning on mobile web.
Fixed Apple Sign In errors that some members were seeing.

Share private lists with a special link. This works even if your Trakt profile is set to private, anyone with the link can view the list.

Official list title added above the movie title and navigation arrows added to quickly see the previous or next movie in the list.
